Even the 3-part kanji (symbol for the word Reiki) depicts its story as being the "shaman who makes rain" - the rain being the stream of consciousness and life force energy.   This Life Force energy is also known as Qi, Chi, and Prana in other cultures, and is known as Kawsay in Andean Mystic tradition, and known as the Holy Spirit in the West.  Every human being has a natural ability to heal themselves and others through this life force energy.
